Understanding ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

What is ADHD?

ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and is one one of the most common types of neurodevelopmental disorders in the world.

As the name suggests, this behaviour disorder is marked by unusually high levels of inattention, impulsiveness and/or hyperactivity.

ADHD can be diagnosed in children as early as 3 years of age. While many are diagnosed during their childhood, a lot of people with ADHD don’t notice the symptoms well into their adulthood.

How do I know if I have ADHD?

  • Do you have trouble focusing on tasks?
  • Do you constantly misplace your belongings?
  • Do you find it tough to sit still?
  • Do you easily get distracted?
  • Do you interrupt people while they talk?
  • Do you struggle to meet deadlines?
  • Do you find it difficult to control your emotions?

ADHD is bound to affect you in your professional and personal life; and can be particularly more frustrating if you’re not diagnosed. So if you’ve mentally just answered “yes” to most of the questions above, then do consider making an appointment and having a chat with an expert.

How do I get rid of ADHD?

There is no permanent cure to get rid of ADHD. But there are several treatments to help you manage the condition and be in more control of yourself. One can successfully live with ADHD if treated correctly.

In short, the earlier you get diagnosed, the sooner the treatment shall start, the quicker you’ll be enhancing your symptoms.

What are the treatments for ADHD?

Treatments differ from case to case. Depending on your symptoms, we’d recommend treatments ranging from Brain Training, Counselling, Behavioural Therapy, Psychopharmacology to Dance Music Therapy.

In several cases only therapy is suggested, while in some other cases, therapy along with prescribed medication can be extremely beneficial. ADHD medications are created to affect the brain’s chemicals in a way that you will be able to control your impulses, actions and emotions better.
