It can sometimes be difficult to notice a change in your own children and even more difficult when we don’t know what to look for.
Children can develop all the same mental health conditions that adults can but children often struggle to appropriately articulate what they are feeling.
The signs to look for are as follows:
Mood changes – is your child sad or withdrawn for at least 2 weeks? Do they have severe mood swings?
Difficulty concentrating – are they struggling to focus or sit still? Has their teacher mentioned anything about their performance at school?
Behavior changes – are they behaving out of character? Perhaps you have noticed a personality shift?
Other signs include: Intense feelings, unexplained weight loss, physical symptoms, physical harm, substance abuse.
If you notice any of the above in your child, please call us to book an appointment to explore this further.
We understand that sometimes appointments need to be cancelled or rearranged, we ask that you let our reception team know 24 hours in advance to avoid penalty charges.
CMC also provides support for families and caregivers.
