Dr. Al-Humoud is a Clinical, Academic and Consultant Adult Psychiatrist at the Cambridge Medical Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirattes, and a Lead Consultant Psychiatrist and the Head of the Forensic Mental Health Services at Kuwait Center for Mental Health (KCMH).
Dr. Al-Humoud is board certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He graduated from the psychiatry and forensic psychiatry residency programs at the University of Toronto. He holds a Master of Jurisprudence in health law from Loyola University Chicago, School of Law. He earned his medical degree from the University College of Dublin, Ireland.
He has a special interest in psychotherapy and conducting psychotherapy training for medical students, psychiatry residents, and psychology students. He applies different psychotherapy techniques in his practice in the public and private sectors with a special interest in psychodynamic psychotherapy and cognitive behavioural therapy.
Dr. Al-Humoud is the former President of the Kuwait Psychiatric Association (KPA) and the previous Head of the Psychiatry Department at the Kuwait Center for Mental Health (KCMH). He is the founder and former Lead Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist at Maudsley Health, Al-Amal Psychiatric Hospital, Dubai, UAE.
In addition to being a mental health advocate, Dr. Al-Humoud also volunteers occasionally with humanitarian agencies to help people in need of mental health care, and his recent accomplishment has been the first Kuwaiti physician and psychiatrist to be recruited with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Doctors Without Borders, where he acted as the lead psychiatrist working with MSF in their project in Tanzania.
