Psychosis is a mental disorder that primarily impacts the brain in processing information. An individual with Psychosis might believe, hear or see things that are not real, resulting in complications in concluding what is real and what is not.

Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is the most chronic and disabling mental disability that alters the way an individual can think, reason, perceives reality and expresses emotions. People who have schizophrenia may seem like they have no contact with reality. However, this disorder is not as common as other disorders.

Symptoms of Schizophrenia include:

  • Hallucination – hearing or seeing things that aren’t there
  • Delusion – usual beliefs not based on reality
  • Muddled thoughts – based on hallucination or delusions
  • Changes in behavior

Vascular Dementia

The second most common kind of dementia in the world after Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia is a class of disorder that develops problems with memory, thinking, judgement and thought process caused by the damaged blood circulation to the brain. Vascular dementia tends to get worse over time, although it’s sometimes possible to slow it down.

Signs and symptoms include:

  • Confusion
  • Slowness in thinking
  • Problems with concentration
  • Trouble in paying attention and planning
  • Reduced ability to execute thoughts or actions
  • Feeling disoriented and confused

Organic Psychotic

Organic Psychosis is a severe mental illness with a known physical deformity caused by an altered perception of reality, which is characterized by dysfunction of the brain that may be short or permanent as a consequence of alcoholism, poisoning, etc.

Symptoms include:

  • Lack of concentration
  • Anxiety
  • Hallucination
  • Depressed mood
